What to do when a loved one passes away?
We guide you step by step from the very first moment
If a loved one passes away at home from natural causes, a doctor from the nearest health center must issue the medical death certificate. For this procedure, a family member must come with two witnesses who can confirm the passing.
Exception: when a foreign national passes away at home, your loved one must first go through Forensic Medicine before continuing with the process.
If a loved one passes away at a hospital or clinic, the medical death certificate is issued directly by the medical staff at the facility. With the certificate in hand, the next step is to register the passing at the Civil Registry, presenting the ID card of the deceased and of the person filing — or the birth certificate if there is no ID.
You will need to decide between a wake or cremation and, if there will be a burial, coordinate permits, the burial slip and payments with the cemetery. In Managua, the funeral home only requires the medical death certificate and the ID cards. The cemetery procedures — such as presenting the death certificate from the Civil Registry, the burial slip and, in the case of a private plot, the holder's authorization and maintenance receipts — can be done afterwards, usually the day after if there is no time before the burial.
In these delicate moments, choosing Funeraria El Alba means counting on a team that understands your situation, walks with you with ctheeness and professionalism, and makes sure everything proceeds in an orderly way.

Reviews from families who have trusted us
Professional people, excellent service and good quality.
I am very grateful for the kindness of the staff. I arrived with many concerns, and one of them was that my mother would have a casket that didn't meet her expectations. I didn't have much money at the time and the team went above and beyond until I was satisfied with what I was looking for. They even called their boss to get a special discount. I am deeply grateful for their help. God bless them. 🙏🏻
